Specifically, treatment may include acupuncture, massage and soft tissue techniques, manual and manipulative therapy, bracing and taping, gait and running evaluation and McKenzie methods (movement based therapy).
What we offer
All patients are welcome.
Whether you are having problems with day to day tasks or are an elite athlete who wants to return to play, we can help you!
Education is an integral part of treatment. We believe that if you understand why you are having pain, you will be empowered to change and improve.
Manual therapy techniques are hands-on techniques that can help restore normal joint and muscle mobility, restoring body systems to their normal function.
Inserting small filament needles into the sensitized points in the body to help the body heal itself, reduce muscle tone, increase blood flow and reduce pain.
Cupping
A form of therapy using suction to increase blood flow, break down scar tissue and promote proper healing for muscles, fascial, and scars.
Functional Dry Needling
A therapy technique used to treat myofascial trigger points in muscles. A small filament needle is inserted into the muscle to produce local spams in order to “normalize” the resting tone.
Individualized and activity specific exercise prescription may be included in your treatment plan.
Tie up your running shoes and hit the treadmill. Our trained and experienced practitioners will help you correct any abnormalities and restore you back to pain free activity.
Modalities may be used along with other treatment options to help decrease pain and swelling. These may include:
• Ultrasound (US): US delivers sound waves into tissue to help relieve inflammation, improve blood flow, reduce pain and break up scar tissue
• Interferential Current (IFC): IFC uses cutaneous pads attached to the skin to transmit gentle electrical currents. These currents improve blood flow which can help bring nutrients to the area of injury and reduce inflammation. Pain and muscle spasm is also reduced by stimulating local nerve fibres.
• Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS): TENS delivers electrical impulses to peripheral nerve fibres, which helps block pain signals. TENS can provide short or long term pain relief
• Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES): NMES is used to re-educate weak muscle by stimulating muscle fibres to contract. It is used in conjunction with active muscle contraction and exercise.
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves creating a series of low energy acoustic wave pulsations, which are directly applied to an injury through a person's skin via a gel medium. Shockwave therapy has been shown to effectively treat the following conditions: feet (heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis), elbow (tennis and golfers elbow), Shoulder (calcific tendinosis of the rotator cuff muscles), Knee (patellar tendonitis), Hip (bursitis), lower leg (shin splints), Upper leg (ITB friction syndrome), Back pain (lumbar and cervical regions and chronic muscular pain).
Applying heat or ice can help reduce pain, muscle spasm and relieve inflammation
